Did you know that as many as 250 million children – many of them from disadvantaged backgrounds – are not learning even basic literacy and numeracy skills if all students in low income countries mastered basic reading skills? Today, USAID in partnership with World Vision and the Australian Government launched the second “All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development”
The ACR GCD Round 2 Grant Competition aligns with the Grand Challenge for Development model which offers innovators opportunities to apply their scientific and technological expertise to develop solutions to clearly defined development problems. Round 2 requires technology-based innovative solutions in three focus areas: Mother Tongue Instruction and Reading Materials, Family and Community Engagement, and Children with Disabilities.
Et4d received a partial ACR grant in 2012 for the development of our 1st reading application Smart4Kids, which was deployed in Cambodia with World Education. With our new literacy app MoToLi (Mother Tongue Literacy), we have improved our software to be localized in any language, if you are interested in applying for the 2nd round of the ACR challenge, we will be happy to share a demo with you.
